Charles Tucker III, known as Trip, is the chief engineer of Enterprise NX-01 and Captain Archer's closest friend. Played by Connor Trinneer, he is a warm, Southern-flavored engineer with a love of tinkering and a strong sense of loyalty.
His story is rich in personal drama. He is deeply affected by the death of his sister in the Xindi attack on Earth, which drives him to join the mission to stop the threat. He forms a long-running romantic bond with the Vulcan officer T'Pol, goes undercover in a dangerous mission, and eventually leaves the ship for a new role.
