Tucker crash-lands on a moon after an Arkonian pilot shoots down his shuttlepod, and the two must cooperate to survive.
Tucker is testing a new autopilot in a shuttlepod when an Arkonian ship fires on him without warning, forcing him down on one of a system's sixty-two moons. The Arkonian pilot, Zho'Kaan, has also crashed there, and he ambushes Tucker. With no shared language, the two trade turns holding each other prisoner until an uneasy truce forms around the need to survive. Above them, Enterprise meets a hostile Arkonian vessel that claims the region and orders it out, and Archer talks the Arkonian captain into a joint search.
As the sun rises and the surface heat turns lethal, Tucker and Zho'Kaan combine parts from both pods to repair a transmitter. Zho'Kaan is too weak to survive transport, and Tucker refuses to leave him, so Archer persuades the Arkonians to send a shuttle built for the moon's atmosphere.
