Reed and Mayweather study a comet as a Vulcan ship watches closely, while T'Pol weighs an arranged marriage and the crew answers schoolchildren's questions.
Enterprise studies a large comet and sends Reed and Mayweather down to collect samples of a rare mineral. A Vulcan ship, the Ti'Mur, arrives and observes the humans closely, and its captain Vanik seems more interested in watching Enterprise than in the comet. When the shuttlepod gets trapped by shifting ice, Archer swallows his pride and accepts Vulcan help to pull it free.
T'Pol receives a message about her long-arranged marriage to a Vulcan named Koss and must decide whether to return home, and Tucker learns of it. Archer and the crew also record answers to letters from a class of Earth schoolchildren. The episode was directed by Terry Windell and written by Andre and Maria Jacquemetton.
