Archer's team finds survivors aboard a ship that crashed years earlier, but most of the crew turn out to be holograms created by a grieving engineer.
Enterprise investigates a ship that crash-landed on a planet years before. The away team finds the vessel occupied by what appear to be its surviving crew, led by Ezral, played by Rene Auberjonois, who claims they are farming and making repairs.
Tucker grows close to Ezral's daughter, Liana, and learns that most of the crew are holograms. Ezral, the ship's engineer, had created them to keep his daughter company after the real crew died in the crash, while hiding from the aliens who had shot them down. Tucker helps repair the ship so the two can leave. The episode was directed by Jim Charleston, with a teleplay by Stephen Beck.
