Ferengi raiders knock out the crew and loot Enterprise, but Tucker escapes the effect and works with T'Pol and Archer to retake the ship.
Enterprise is left adrift after a gas device knocks out its crew, and four Ferengi board the ship to plunder it. Tucker, who had been isolated at the time, stays conscious and watches the raiders from engineering.
He revives T'Pol, who manipulates the greedy Ferengi by encouraging their suspicions of one another, while Archer convinces them that a valuable vault exists on board. The crew plays the intruders against each other and recovers the stolen goods. The Ferengi were played by Jeffrey Combs, Ethan Phillips, Clint Howard and Matt Malloy. Because the species was not formally met until later eras, the episode avoids naming them on screen. It was directed by James Whitmore Jr.
