Andorians take Archer, Tucker and T'Pol hostage at the Vulcan monastery of P'Jem, convinced the Vulcans are hiding a listening post there.
Archer, Tucker and T'Pol visit the ancient Vulcan monastery at P'Jem, only to find that a group of Andorians led by Commander Shran has taken the monks hostage. The Andorians are convinced the Vulcans are using the site to spy on them, and they take the humans prisoner too.
Archer's team discovers that the Andorians are right: a hidden sensor array lies beneath the monastery. Archer gives Shran proof of the facility, and the Andorians leave peacefully, which damages relations between Earth and the Vulcan High Command. The episode marks the first appearance of Shran, played by Jeffrey Combs. It was directed by Roxann Dawson, with a teleplay by Fred Dekker.
