Beginning the search in the Delphic Expanse, Archer and Tucker go undercover at a mining facility to question a Xindi worker about the attack on Earth.
The third season opens with Enterprise in the Delphic Expanse, a hazardous region of space, searching for the Xindi who attacked Earth. Archer and Tucker go to a mining facility to find Kessick, a Xindi Primate laborer, and are trapped working in the mine. Kessick offers to lead them out through a waste system in exchange for help escaping, but the foreman floods it with plasma and they are captured.
Persuaded by T'Pol, Reed lets the newly assigned MACO team attempt an extraction, and they rescue all three. Kessick dies after giving the coordinates of the Xindi homeworld, but the crew finds only debris from a planet destroyed over a century earlier. The episode also introduces the Xindi Council, made up of several distinct species. It was directed by Allan Kroeker and written by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga.
