At dinner, T'Pol tells Archer and Tucker the story of her great-grandmother T'Mir, part of a Vulcan crew stranded in a Pennsylvania town in 1957.

During a dinner marking her long service aboard Enterprise, T'Pol tells Archer and Tucker a story about her great-grandmother T'Mir. In 1957, a Vulcan survey ship observing Earth after the launch of Sputnik crashed in Pennsylvania, stranding T'Mir, a crewman named Mestral and an engineer named Stron.
The Vulcans pose as humans in the mining town of Carbon Creek, working odd jobs while waiting for rescue. Mestral grows fond of Earth and its people, and after rescuers arrive he chooses to stay. T'Mir sells an invention to raise money for a local cause. T'Pol leaves it unclear whether the tale is true. The episode was directed by James A. Contner, with a teleplay by Chris Black.
