William T. Riker is the first officer of the Enterprise-D, played by Jonathan Frakes. Confident, charming and a talented jazz trombonist, he is Captain Picard's trusted second in command, frequently leading away missions and making decisions that shape the course of the ship.
His life is defined by his relationship with Deanna Troi, which begins before the series and eventually grows into marriage. He also meets a duplicate of himself created by a transporter accident, Thomas Riker, and he turns down several offers of his own command before accepting the captaincy of the USS Titan. He returns in Star Trek: Picard, joining Picard for a final mission.
Riker endures as the model of a warm-hearted officer. His easy confidence and loyalty make him one of the franchise's favorite second-in-command figures.
