A holodeck woman whose apparent self-awareness captivated William Riker, created as a distraction by the Bynars.
Minuet was a jazz club companion William Riker created on the holodeck in 11001001. Unknown to him, the Bynars had secretly enhanced the program, and Minuet proved so responsive and insightful that both Riker and Picard were charmed by her. Her purpose was to keep them occupied while the Bynars took over the Enterprise-D computer to save the computer systems of their homeworld.
When the Bynars' plan was resolved, Riker found that Minuet's special qualities had vanished. He did not forget her, and in Future Imperfect an alien boy creating a false future for Riker used the name Minuet for the wife he was supposed to have married.
