Riker is infected by an alien organism and relives memories.
While exploring a planet, Commander Riker is infected by a dangerous microbe that causes a coma. Dr. Pulaski cannot find a cure, and the only chance is to stimulate his brain with his memories, which are used to treat the infection. As a result, the viewer sees the first-person memories of earlier episodes.
The season-two finale was produced during a shortened season, and it is a clip show built from earlier episodes. Fans and even the production team have since regarded it as a low point, though its depiction of Riker's life is not without interest. It is also the last episode with Dr. Pulaski as a regular, as Dr. Crusher would return in the third season.
