Beata was the leader of the women who ruled Angel One, who sentenced a group of male human castaways to death before showing mercy.
Beata was the Elected One, the leader of the female-dominated society of Angel One, when the Enterprise came looking for survivors of the freighter Odin in Angel One. She knew of four male survivors who had lived on the planet for seven years and regarded them as fugitives who were disturbing her society.
Beata took a personal interest in Riker, asking him to stay with her. When the castaways led by Ramsey were captured and condemned to death, Riker pleaded for them, and Beata chose instead to exile them, recognising that her society would have to change. Karen Montgomery played her.
