A Starfleet admiral and William Riker's first captain, who secretly tested an illegal cloaking device aboard the USS Pegasus.
Erik Pressman commanded the USS Pegasus when Riker served aboard as a young officer. The ship was testing a phasing cloak, which the Treaty of Algeron forbade. When the experiment went wrong, the crew mutinied, and Riker sided with Pressman. The ship was believed lost.
Twelve years later, in The Pegasus, Admiral Pressman came aboard the Enterprise-D to recover the ship before the Romulans could find it. The Pegasus was found inside an asteroid, and the cloak was used to escape it. Riker revealed the truth to Picard, and Pressman was arrested for breaking the treaty.
