Yuta served as the assistant to Sovereign Marouk of Acamar III in The Vengeance Factor, and Riker was drawn to her. She seemed reserved, unable to open up to him, and soon Dr. Crusher began to link her to a series of mysterious deaths.

Her body had been altered so that she aged very slowly and could kill with a touch, carrying a microvirus that attacked only members of the rival Lornak clan.
