Christopher Pike

Captain, USS Enterprise

Kirk's predecessor in command of the Enterprise, whose fate was to be badly injured.

Christopher Pike is the captain of the USS Enterprise before James T. Kirk, first seen in the original Star Trek pilot and later in Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. He is a thoughtful and humane commander who is deeply loved by his crew.
In Discovery he takes temporary command of the ship and works with Michael Burnham and Spock, and he becomes a trusted friend to both. Strange New Worlds makes him a leading figure, following his years on the Enterprise and his struggle with a terrible vision of his own future, in which a catastrophic accident leaves him badly injured. His warm bond with Una Chin-Riley, Spock and the rest of the crew shows his belief in optimism and exploration.
Pike is remembered as a gracious leader, and his eventual fate, which ties into the original series, makes him one of the franchise's most poignant captains.
