Burnham takes Spock to Talos IV, where the Talosians heal his mind and Pike is reunited with Vina.
The episode opens with a recap of The Cage. Burnham brings Spock to the forbidden planet Talos IV, and Vina greets Pike in an illusion. The Talosians heal Spock's mind in exchange for Burnham's memory of how she hurt him as a child, and Spock reveals that he mind-melded with the Red Angel and saw visions of the galaxy's destruction.
Aboard Discovery, the resurrected Culber struggles with his identity and lashes out at Tyler, who is going through a crisis of his own. Discovery rescues Burnham and Spock while the Section 31 ship is held in the Talosians' illusions. Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie wrote the episode and T. J. Scott directed.
