A science officer who meddled with tribble genetics and caused a disaster aboard the USS Cabot.
Edward Larkin was a science officer aboard the USS Cabot, newly under the command of Captain Lynne Lucero, a former officer of Christopher Pike's Enterprise. Unhappy with a reassignment, he secretly went ahead with an experiment to solve a planet's food shortage by adding human DNA to tribbles.
The altered tribbles were born pregnant and multiplied at an explosive rate, overrunning the ship. The crew abandoned the Cabot, and Larkin, trapped under the swelling mass of tribbles, was left behind and died. He was played by H. Jon Benjamin.
