Spock and T'Pring find themselves in a bodyswap.
With the Enterprise under repair at Starbase One, the crew takes shore leave. Spock worries that T'Pring thinks he is becoming too human and hopes to spend leave with her, but Admiral April wants him and Pike at talks with the R'ongovians, who are weighing an alliance with the Federation, the Klingons or the Romulans. Before he goes, he and T'Pring perform a mind meld ceremony meant to bring them closer, and it accidentally swaps their katras, leaving each in the other's body. Spock tries to carry on T'Pring's work persuading lapsed Vulcans to return to logic, while T'Pring stands in beside Pike at the negotiations, until M'Benga and Chapel put the katras back.
In a lighter subplot, Una and La'an learn they are seen as killjoys and join the junior crew's game of Enterprise Bingo. The title nods to Amok Time, the original series episode that introduced T'Pring.
