La'an Noonien-Singh is the security chief of the USS Enterprise in Strange New Worlds, serving under Captain Pike. Serious and reserved, she carries heavy trauma from her youth and a family history that she tries to keep hidden, being a descendant of the infamous Khan.
Her work involves defending the ship and her crewmates while wrestling with painful memories. She forms bonds with Spock, Uhura, Una Chin-Riley and others, and has complicated chemistry with James T. Kirk in a time-travel storyline that sets up an alternate timeline. She confronts a deadly alien threat from her past and is often at the center of dramatic episodes.
