The newly appointed captain of the USS Cabot, whose first command was overrun by Edward Larkin's genetically altered tribbles.
Lynne Lucero, played by Rosa Salazar, is the captain of the USS Cabot in the Short Trek The Trouble with Edward. A former officer under Christopher Pike, she has just received her first command, and Pike congratulates her on it.
Her science officer Edward Larkin defies her orders and adds human DNA to tribbles to solve a planet's food shortage, creating creatures that are born pregnant and multiply exponentially. The Cabot is overrun, and while Lucero and the rest of the crew escape, Larkin is trapped beneath the tribbles and left behind.
