On Vulcan, Burnham finds that Amanda has been hiding a troubled Spock, while a time rift's probe infects Airiam.
Burnham travels to Vulcan and discovers that Amanda has been sheltering Spock, who is in deep mental distress. Sarek urges her to hand him over to Section 31, but Georgiou warns that its memory-extraction device would kill him, and she helps Burnham and Spock get away.
Above Kaminar, a time rift opens. Pike and Tyler take a shuttle to investigate and are attacked by a probe that has been upgraded with technology from the future. Pike, Tyler and Stamets destroy it, but not before it infects Airiam's augmentations. Marta Cunningham directed the episode.
