Spock hijacked the Enterprise to carry his disabled former captain Christopher Pike to the forbidden planet Talos IV, then faced court-martial for violating General Order 7.
In 2267 Christopher Pike, severely injured in an accident and confined to a life-support chair, was visited by Kirk and Spock at Starbase 11. Spock then took control of the Enterprise with forged orders and set course for Talos IV, the only planet whose contact carried the death penalty under Starfleet General Order 7.
Aboard ship, Spock was put on trial and showed images, transmitted by the Talosians, of Pike's visit to Talos IV in 2254. The Talosians had arranged the events so that Pike could live with them and with Vina, whose body had been badly injured in a crash years before. Starfleet dropped the charges, and Pike went down to Talos IV to live free of his injuries.
