On Kaminar, Saru confronts the Ba'ul and learns the Kelpiens were once the dominant species, before the Red Angel stops a genocide.
Following a new signal, Discovery reaches Saru's homeworld Kaminar, where the Ba'ul keep the Kelpiens in fear and demand that Saru be handed over. He surrenders himself to prevent a battle. Tilly and Airiam study the sphere's data and learn that Kelpiens who passed through vahar'ai once dominated the Ba'ul and nearly drove them to extinction.
Pike decides to trigger vahar'ai in every Kelpien to force a new balance between the species, but the Ba'ul respond by trying to wipe out the Kelpiens. The Red Angel, now seen as a figure in an advanced suit, intervenes and stops them. Saru's sister Siranna appears. Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt wrote the episode.
