The government of the reptilian Gorn, whose clash with the Enterprise at Cestus III is one of the original series' best-known stories.
The Gorn Hegemony is the state of the Gorn, a reptilian species of great strength. In Arena, the Gorn destroy the Federation outpost on Cestus III, and the powerful Metrons force James T. Kirk to fight the Gorn captain in single combat, a fight Kirk wins before sparing his opponent.
Strange New Worlds portrays the Gorn as a terrifying threat in the 2250s, faced by Christopher Pike's crew, who learn that Gorn young are incubated inside living hosts. The species also appears in Enterprise's mirror universe story and in Lower Decks.
