Christopher Pike and Joseph M'Benga take a shuttle to the surface and find the flower, which has transformed a group of scientists into zombies. They are also tracked by Bytha, the daughter of Dak'Rah, before escaping with the flower that later turns Batel into a human-Gorn hybrid.
