Geordi La Forge is the chief engineer of the USS Enterprise-D and later the Enterprise-E, appearing in Star Trek: The Next Generation, its films, and Star Trek: Picard. He was born blind and sees through a device called a VISOR, which lets him perceive the world in a way that others cannot.
He begins the series as the ship's helmsman and moves into engineering, where his skill and creativity keep the Enterprise running through countless crises. His friendship with Data is one of the show's best, built on shared curiosity and humor, and he has a notable encounter with the engineer Leah Brahms. In Picard he returns as an older man who is still loyal to his old captain and has a family of his own, including a daughter named Sidney.
