Ocular implants are artificial eyes that replaced Geordi La Forge's VISOR by 2373, giving him enhanced vision without an external device.
After years of relying on his VISOR, La Forge chose cybernetic implants that sit in place of his eyes. They gave him a more natural appearance while preserving much of the expanded perception the VISOR had provided, and he was using them aboard the Enterprise-E during the Borg incursion of 2373.
Artificial eyes also appear elsewhere in Star Trek, including the cybernetic ocular implants of former Borg drones. La Forge's implants appear again later in his life, when he has risen to high rank in Starfleet.
