A humanoid species with limited telepathy, focused through a crystal device called a canar, known through Starfleet officer Aquiel Uhnari.
The Haliians are a humanoid species with limited telepathic abilities. They can amplify and focus those abilities with a canar, a small crystal artefact that reaches into the mind and memories of its owner.
The best-known Haliian is Lieutenant Aquiel Uhnari, a Starfleet officer stationed on a remote relay station. When the station's crew vanished, Geordi La Forge investigated her apparent death and fell for her through her logs, before discovering she was still alive and the real culprit was a creature that absorbed its victims.
