A Sydney-class transport that crashed on a Dyson sphere in 2294, preserving Montgomery Scott in its transporter for 75 years.
The USS Jenolan was a Sydney-class transport of the late 23rd century. In 2294 it was carrying Captain Montgomery Scott, on his way to retirement, when it crashed on the surface of a Dyson sphere.
Scott and Ensign Matt Franklin, the only survivors, rigged the transporter in a diagnostic loop to preserve their patterns in the buffer while awaiting rescue. In 2369 the Enterprise-D found the wreck still running. Geordi La Forge recovered Scott's pattern intact, but Franklin's had degraded beyond recovery.
When the Enterprise was drawn inside the sphere and its hatch began to close, Scott and La Forge repaired the Jenolan enough to fly it into the opening and wedge it in the doorway. They beamed out just before the Enterprise destroyed the old ship to escape through the gap. Scott was then given a shuttlecraft to continue his travels.
