Constellation-class

Starfleet starship class

A long-serving Starfleet starship class with four warp nacelles, best known through Picard's USS Stargazer.

The Constellation-class was a Starfleet starship design of the 23rd and 24th centuries, recognisable by its four warp nacelles arranged in pairs beneath a large saucer. The type remained in service for decades, and by the 2360s many examples were old.
Its best-known ship was the USS Stargazer, commanded by Jean-Luc Picard for more than twenty years before it was abandoned after the Battle of Maxia in 2355. Picard's victory there, the Picard Maneuver, used a brief warp jump to make the Stargazer appear in two places at once. The derelict was later returned to Picard by the Ferengi DaiMon Bok.
The USS Hathaway, an 80-year-old Constellation-class ship, was commanded by William Riker in a 2365 war game, and the USS Victory, on which Geordi La Forge served earlier in his career, belonged to the class as well.
