The USS Tsiolkovsky was an Oberth-class science vessel assigned to observe the collapse of a red supergiant star in 2364. Its crew was overcome by a contaminant that stripped away inhibitions, and by the time the Enterprise-D arrived, the scientists had died after an emergency hatch was opened to space.
Geordi La Forge carried the contamination back to the Enterprise, where it spread rapidly through the crew in The Naked Now. Beverly Crusher found a cure, and Wesley Crusher used the tractor beam to push the Enterprise away from the Tsiolkovsky as fragments of the star approached.
