USS Voyager (NCC-74656)

Intrepid-class starship

Captain Janeway's ship, swept to the Delta Quadrant in 2371 and returned in 2378.

The USS Voyager was an Intrepid-class starship, a fast and modern vessel with variable-geometry warp nacelles and bio-neural gel packs. She was launched in the 2370s and designed for science and exploration. Her first mission was to find a Maquis ship in the Badlands, under Captain Kathryn Janeway.
While pursuing the Maquis vessel, Voyager and the Maquis ship were flung into the Delta Quadrant by an alien entity called the Caretaker, over seventy thousand light-years from home. The crews combined, with Maquis leader Chakotay becoming first officer, and began a long journey home. The crew included Tuvok, Tom Paris, B'Elanna Torres, Harry Kim, the Talaxian Neelix and Kes, and the Emergency Medical Hologram. Seven of Nine, a former Borg drone, joined later.
Over the years Voyager met the Kazon, the Vidiians, the Borg and Species 8472, and faced difficult choices about the Prime Directive and survival. The ship was battered but kept going. In the end, Voyager returned to Earth with the help of future knowledge brought by an older Janeway, completing a journey of many years, and the story remained a favourite of fans.
