A Betazoid Maquis crewman aboard Voyager who committed murder, was rehabilitated through Tuvok's mind meld and died retaking the ship from the Kazon.
Lon Suder was a Betazoid who had joined the Maquis, though his comrades found his enthusiasm for violence unsettling. Unusually for his telepathic species, he had trouble sensing emotion in himself or others, and he later admitted that he had joined the Maquis largely because it gave him an outlet for killing.
Aboard USS Voyager he murdered a fellow crewman without any clear motive. Tuvok performed a mind meld to understand his violence, which left Tuvok struggling to control his own violent impulses while giving Suder some measure of Vulcan restraint. Confined to his quarters, Suder found peace cultivating new varieties of orchids and wished to make amends.
When the Kazon captured Voyager and stranded its crew on a primitive world, Suder remained hidden aboard alongside the Doctor. He sabotaged the occupiers and killed several of them to help retake the ship, but was killed in the effort. His arc made him one of Voyager's most memorable recurring characters.
