A group of warring Delta Quadrant sects.
The Kazon are a people of the Delta Quadrant divided into many rival sects, such as the Nistrim, Ogla and Relora, each led by a Maje. The sects fight among themselves over territory, water and technology, and their ships and weapons are less advanced than those of many of their neighbours.
The Kazon had once been enslaved by another species, the Trabe. They eventually rose up and overthrew the Trabe, who were driven from their world and left wandering. This history left the Kazon bitter, and the Trabe's later attempt to unite the sects at a peace conference ended in treachery.
Voyager met the Kazon in its first episode, Caretaker, and they were the ship's main enemy for its first two seasons. Maje Culluh of the Kazon-Nistrim joined forces with Seska, a Cardassian spy who had served aboard Voyager disguised as a Bajoran, and the two seized Voyager for a time at the end of the second season. Voyager left Kazon space soon after.
