A new Starfleet science vessel named in honour of Janeway's famous ship, refitted with technology the original Voyager brought home from the Delta Quadrant.
The USS Voyager-A is the successor to the Intrepid-class USS Voyager that spent seven years stranded in the Delta Quadrant. It appears in the second season of Star Trek: Prodigy, where it is described as a science vessel enhanced with technologies and lessons gathered by the original crew during their long journey home.
Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway commands the ship on its maiden voyage, with the Doctor among its crew. The ship is drawn into the hunt for the missing Chakotay and for the Protostar crew, and becomes a central setting as the young cadets from Tars Lamora cross paths with Starfleet once more. Janeway keeps a model of the original Voyager aboard as a reminder of her first command.
The Voyager-A carries the name of one of Starfleet's most celebrated ships into a new era and ties Prodigy directly to Star Trek: Voyager. It shows how the original vessel's discoveries were folded into later Federation designs and gives returning characters a fresh place to continue their story.
