A Delta Quadrant people who once used subspace corridors to dominate their region and survived in stasis for nine centuries before Voyager revived them.
The Vaadwaur are a humanoid species of the Delta Quadrant who, nine hundred years ago, controlled a network of subspace corridors that allowed fast travel across vast distances. They used the corridors to raid and conquer other worlds, until their enemies united against them and devastated their homeworld. Hundreds of Vaadwaur survived in stasis chambers in caverns beneath its surface.
In the episode Dragon's Teeth, USS Voyager enters one of the corridors and is forced down onto the ruined planet by the Turei, the people who now control the network. Seven of Nine revives a Vaadwaur named Gedrin, who presents his people as victims, and Kathryn Janeway helps wake the others. Neelix and Seven study Talaxian folklore and Borg records and discover that the Vaadwaur were in fact feared conquerors. The revived Vaadwaur try to seize Voyager, and Gedrin sacrifices himself to help the crew escape.
The episode's title refers to a Greek myth in which warriors spring up from dragon's teeth sown in the ground, mirroring the sleeping army.
