The Delta Quadrant is one of the four quadrants of the Milky Way galaxy, on the far side of the galaxy from the Federation. It lies about seventy thousand light years from Federation space, and is home to many different species, including the Borg, the Kazon, the Vidiians and the Hirogen.
The quadrant is the setting for Star Trek: Voyager, which follows the starship Voyager after it is pulled across the galaxy by the Caretaker. The crew's long voyage home takes them through the territories of many peoples, and the series shows how they meet new friends and old enemies as they travel.
Captain Janeway and her crew encounter the Ocampa, the Talaxians and the Borg, among many others. They make an alliance with the Maquis crew who have come with them, and they gradually make their way toward the Alpha Quadrant. The quadrant is also the Borg's home territory, and the many encounters with them are a key feature of the series, which ends with the ship's return to Earth.
