Ensign Lyndsay Ballard served aboard Voyager and was a close friend of Harry Kim, who had feelings for her. Played by Kim Rhodes, she was killed on an away mission in the ship's early years in the Delta Quadrant.
In Ashes to Ashes, Ballard returned aboard, alive but altered: the Kobali, who reproduce by reviving the dead of other species, had brought her back as one of their own. She tried to resume her life on Voyager, but her Kobali physiology reasserted itself, and she chose to leave and return to the Kobali.
