The rebellious ensign on the Cerritos.
Beckett Mariner is an ensign aboard the USS Cerritos in the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, voiced by Tawny Newsome. A skilled and experienced officer who has served on several ships, she deliberately avoids promotion and enjoys breaking rules, and her bravado masks deeper fears about responsibility.
Her closest friends are Brad Boimler, D'Vana Tendi and Sam Rutherford. Her mother is the Cerritos's captain, Carol Freeman, a secret revealed early in the series, and the two clash constantly while clearly loving each other; their relationship is one of the show's emotional centers. She also counts Captain Riker among her acquaintances.
Over the seasons she gradually confronts why she holds herself back and begins to accept more responsibility. Mariner is beloved as a fast-talking, fun-loving hero who proves that the people at the bottom of the chain of command are essential to Starfleet's story.
