Freeman's trade talks with the Karemma on Deep Space 9 turn chaotic when Quark is kidnapped.
At Deep Space 9, Freeman negotiates a trade deal with the Karemma. Mariner struggles to impress the friends of her girlfriend Jennifer, while Tendi and Rutherford are befriended by Mesk, an Orion officer on the station who wants to talk only about Orion pirate culture, a heritage Tendi has tried to leave behind.
The Karemma kidnap Quark, who has been using a new replicator, and cut power to the station. Mesk admits he grew up on Earth and learned about Orions from pulp novels, and Tendi uses her own pirate skills to chase down the Karemma and rescue Quark. The Karemma reveal that Quark stole their technology, and Freeman brokers a deal giving them most of his profits.
