Trapped in a collapsed cave, four friends swap stories of past ordeals and reaffirm their bond.
Boimler, Mariner, Tendi and Rutherford are trapped in a collapsed cave while studying a fast-growing moss, and to pass the time they recount earlier cave mishaps. Boimler was stuck with conspiracy-minded Lieutenant Levy, Rutherford raised an alien baby with Dr. T'Ana, and Mariner had to work with the hostile Delta Shift.
Fearing their friendship is changing, the four start to argue. The moss proves to be sentient and asks for Tendi's story, which recalls the day the four first got stuck together in a turbolift and became friends. Tendi assures them their bond will last as their circles grow, while their blocked communications turn out to be another Vendorian test.
