Nick Locarno threatens to use a Genesis Device unless his rebel fleet is recognized, and Freeman defies orders to rescue Mariner from him.
Nick Locarno announces that he has built a fleet from the mutinous crews and threatens to use a Genesis Device unless his movement is recognized. He expected Mariner to join him, but she warns the galaxy not to trust him and steals the device.
Freeman disobeys orders to save her daughter, using a broken-down battleship supplied by D'Erika on the condition that D'Vana return to Orion. Acting captain Boimler uses the Cerritos's tractor beam to ram the battleship through Locarno's shields. Mariner triggers the device and pleads with Locarno to let go of his anger, but he refuses, and the device turns him and the matter around him into a new planet, named Locarno. T'Lyn chooses to stay on the Cerritos and Tendi leaves for Orion.
