American actress who voiced Captain Carol Freeman of the USS Cerritos in Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Dawnn Lewis is an American actress best known for Jaleesa Vinson-Taylor on A Different World, whose theme song she co-wrote, and for Robin Dumars on Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.
On Star Trek: Lower Decks she voiced Carol Freeman, the ambitious captain of the USS Cerritos and the mother of Ensign Beckett Mariner. Freeman's determination to win respect for her overlooked ship, and her tense but loving relationship with her daughter, anchored the series across all five seasons.
