Boimler and Mariner ferry a Klingon general to Tulgana IV, while Rutherford tries leaving engineering to spend time with Tendi.
Boimler is assigned to shuttle the Klingon general K'orin to the Federation embassy on Tulgana IV, and Mariner, an old friend of the general, invites herself along. After they land, a drunken K'orin steals the shuttle, and the search through the city leaves Boimler doubting whether he is cut out for field work.
A Ferengi offers to help, and when he turns on them Boimler drives him off and takes credit, never realizing that Mariner set up the whole encounter to restore his confidence. In the subplot, Rutherford tries a string of other departments to spend more time with Tendi before accepting that engineering is where he belongs, and Tendi keeps him company while he works.
