Carol Freeman is the captain of the USS Cerritos in Star Trek: Lower Decks, a California-class starship dedicated to second contact missions. She is an ambitious and confident leader who wants to prove that her ship's work matters, even when the assignments are routine or unglamorous.
Her relationship with her daughter Beckett Mariner is the most important of the series. Freeman often finds herself frustrated by Mariner's behavior, but she clearly cares about her, and the two gradually learn to understand each other.
