Captain Maier commands the USS Carlsbad, a California-class ship that joins the Cerritos for peace talks on Jengus IV.
Maier is the captain of the USS Carlsbad, another California-class ship whose crew regard the Cerritos as a crew of mavericks. In Mining the Mind's Mines, the two ships are sent to finalize peace between the rock-like Scrubble and Federation scientists on Jengus IV.
During the talks, Freeman and Maier are presented with a gift by the Scrubble. Tendi detects strange readings from it and proves to Freeman that it hides spy equipment, just as the away team uncovers a hidden lab gathering Starfleet data. Maier was voiced by Baron Vaughn.
