Chakotay finds Voyager split into different time periods.
A temporal rift strikes Voyager and splits the ship into sections from different points in its history. Treated with a serum that lets him move between them, Chakotay meets crew from many eras, from a Janeway who has not yet met him and takes him for a Maquis spy, to Seska and the Kazon holding engineering. He gives the serum to this earlier Janeway, who comes to trust him as he tells her about the journey ahead.
Together they pass through moments from across the voyage, from the Borg children's cargo bay to the Captain Proton program, and Janeway learns what awaits her. Chakotay finally spreads the serum through the ship to restore it, and he wakes just before the rift strikes and orders the deflector blown out to stop it. The seventh-season episode celebrates the show's history and ends with a dinner where both officers cite the Temporal Prime Directive.
