Maquis engineer on Voyager who secretly fed information to Seska and the Kazon-Nistrim until he was exposed and killed in 2372.
Michael Jonas was a Maquis crewman who joined Voyager's crew in 2371 and worked in engineering. Played by Raphael Sbarge, he quickly lost faith in Janeway's ability to get the ship home, and the death of the popular Maquis crewman Kurt Bendera hardened his resentment.
Jonas began passing secret transmissions to Seska, the Cardassian agent who had defected to the Kazon-Nistrim. Among the information he sent was Voyager's data on breaking the warp ten barrier, and he helped the Kazon track and plan attacks on the ship.
Neelix, newly running a shipboard news program, began investigating who was leaking information. In Investigations, he confronted Jonas in engineering, and Jonas was killed after the struggle that followed. His betrayal showed how fragile the merger of the Starfleet and Maquis crews remained in the early years of the voyage.
