Seska steals technology from Voyager with a Kazon ally.
A false Federation signal lures Voyager into a Kazon-Nistrim ambush, and Maje Culluh, aided by Seska, boards the ship and escapes with a transporter module. Culluh hopes to use the technology to unite the Kazon sects under his leadership.
Blaming himself for having trusted Seska, Chakotay takes a shuttle and goes after the Kazon alone. He destroys the stolen module but is captured and interrogated for Voyager's command codes. Janeway gets him back by beaming the leaders of several Kazon sects aboard and trading them for her officer. Seska later reveals that she used Chakotay's DNA to become pregnant, and Janeway reprimands Chakotay for acting without orders.
