Tars Lamora is a prison colony in the Delta Quadrant, which is the setting for the first episodes of Star Trek: Prodigy. It is a harsh and desolate world, where prisoners are forced to work in mines under the authority of the Diviner. It is a place from which there is almost no escape, and its inmates are of many species.
The colony is run by the Diviner and his guards, who are searching for a hidden object. The prisoners are treated as slaves, and many of them have lost hope of freedom. Within the prison there is a small group of captives who are trying to escape, and some of them are very young.
A group of young prisoners, including Dal R'El, find a hidden Starfleet ship named the Protostar, and use it to escape from the colony. Their journey takes them to the wider galaxy, where they meet Captain Janeway as a hologram, and begin to learn about Starfleet. The planet is where the story begins, and it introduces the series' main characters.
